Your safety comes first. Before you get on the water, please take a minute to review these basic safety rules.

At Drift Away, we want every rental to be fun, simple, and safe. Kayaking and paddleboarding are outdoor activities, so conditions can change. Please use good judgment, follow all posted park rules, and do not go out if the weather, water, or your ability makes the ride unsafe.

Safety rules:

Wear your life jacket at all times
A life jacket is required while on the water. Make sure it fits properly before leaving the launch area.

Check the weather before you go
Do not go out during lightning, high winds, storms, heavy rain, or unsafe water conditions.

Stay within safe areas
Stay near the approved rental area and avoid boat traffic, spillways, dams, restricted areas, and private property.

Do not overload the kayak or paddleboard
Only use the rental equipment as intended. Do not exceed weight limits or carry extra riders unless the equipment is made for it.

Do not use the equipment under the influence
Do not kayak or paddleboard while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or anything that affects your balance, judgment, or reaction time.

Keep an eye on your group
Stay close enough to communicate with the people you are with. If someone is struggling, return to shore.

Return before your rental time ends
Plan enough time to safely paddle back, return the kayak and gear, lock everything up, and upload your return photo.

Emergency note:
If there is an emergency, call 911 immediately. Drift Away is not a lifeguard or emergency response service.

Bottom disclaimer:
By renting equipment from Drift Away, you agree to use the equipment responsibly, follow all safety instructions, and accept the risks that come with outdoor water activities.
